Save the Date

Please mark your calendars! Students in Grades 3–5 will participate in the New Jersey Student Learning Assessments (NJSLA) this spring. Testing will take place on:

May 4th through May 15th

The NJSLA helps us measure student progress and growth in alignment with the New Jersey Student Learning Standards. We kindly ask that families avoid scheduling appointments or travel during these dates whenever possible to ensure students are present and ready to do their best.

"Don't Stress the Test"

NJSLA Parent Letter

As your child prepares for the upcoming NJSLA, we want to ensure they feel confident and calm. To support them, we’ve put together a "Don’t Stress the Test" guide featuring practical strategies students can use both before and during their assessments.

Here are a few ways you can help your child "Get in the Zone" at home:

  • Prioritize Rest: Encourage your child to turn off electronic devices 30 minutes before bed and set an early bedtime to ensure they have the energy and focus they need.

  • Fuel for Success: Help them start their day with a healthy breakfastβ€”like yogurt, fruit, or granola barsβ€”to fuel their mind.

  • Calm the Mind: Before school, suggest they draw, listen to music, or even do some quick exercises like jumping jacks to move oxygen through their body and release any uneasy thoughts.

Inside the classroom, students will be encouraged to use "During the Test" strategies such as deep breathing (the "Breather Reliever"), simple desk stretches to regain energy, and positive mantras to maintain motivation. We invite you to review the attached slide deck with your child to explore these helpful techniques together!
